hi,

just a couple of minutes ago i got a BSOD, and i wasn't even doing anything thats intensive, i was running itunes and watching a live stream (of Machinima trying to get 15th prestige on COD 7 XD)
so does anyone have any ideas what could have caused it?
and i have had BSODs before, they come by every now and then and i guess its about time i get help for them :S

i've built this comp myself and am using Windows 7. some of my specs are in my sig

thanks! :D :D

Download BlueScreenView (in Zip file)
No installation required.
Unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

re:

Can you also please elaborate on what you were doing previously that involved a BSOD?

Judging by the first post, I'm going to make a big assumption that the cause is your graphics card.

Are you using the latest graphics card driver? Also, are there updates for your sound card? I'd recommend checking those out whilst you do diagnostics on the BSOD software that Broni mentioned above.

thanks for the quick reply guys! :D

all i was doing was listening to itunes and watching a live stream on the internet. so nothing intensive :S
i haven't updated my GPU in a while so maybe theres updates for it, i'll have a look :)

i'll post the bluescreen viewer report in just a moment XD

thanks again! :D

okay i can't actually figure out how to start the scan haha
although in the bottom left hand corner it says "0 crashes"

sorry haha

Make sure, your settings are correct...

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel (Start>Control Panel in Vista).
2. Double-click System.
3. Click (Advanced system settings link in Vista, then --->)the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
4. Make sure, there is a checkmark in Write an event to the system log.
5. In the Write debugging information list, click Small memory dump (64k) (128K in Windows 7).

awesome thanks man!
mine was set at kernel dump, but fixed that up thanks to you! :D

does that mean i have to wait until next BSOD until i can give you a report?

thanks! :)

re:

Fingers crossed that updating your drivers will prevent any more BSOD's and that your PC won't cause you any more grief lol! It'll save time out of your day waiting for the 3 - 4 BSOD's. That's usually a bad thing :)
