Random freezes

I'm having an issue where my computer will randomly freeze and the audio will loop continually. My specs are:

Vista 64 Home basic
Intel Quad core q9400
GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-UD3P
Kingston KVR1333D3N9K2 4g (2x2g)
RAIDMAX RX-850SS 850W Power Supply
EVGA Nvidia 260x Video card
Dual monitors

I'm not overclocking and I have my voltages all set to stock. It primarily freezes when I'm playing a game (any game, really) or often when I'm bringing it out of the screen saver. I've set it to turn off the hard drive after 20 minutes (before the screen saver turns on) and it is still freezing. CPU, GPU, RAM, and Northbridge temperatures are not issues.
 
I've been told it's not good to have your hard drives be turned off or set idle, It can cause disc errors.
