Random freezes

So.. my relatively new computer randomly freezes. The weird thing about it is, however, it does this at a certain time after I turn the computer on, and this time stays the same for almost every time. When I shut off the power suppy, turn it back on, and then start the computer again, everything seems to be just fine. Usually, it freezes about 1-2 minutes from the time after windows completely loads. Does anybody know what could be causing the problem?

You probablt should upgrade the PSU that came with your case. With only 18A on the +12v rail, that is a possibility to the freezing that comes up.

the comp is brand new though, so i dont know if i want to upgrade anything just yet. do you think anything else could be the problem?

i still find it very weird that it restarts about the same time after windows boots up every time. i ran antivirus and anti spyware and adware, but i still have the same problem.

have you tried a re-install to see if that works? im using my stock 400watt psu and i havent had any problems.

Does it do this even in safe-mode? I suggest trying that, but if it still does it you could try using a different power supply (if available), a Linux "live-boot" disc (if available), or you could even just try running it in the safe-mode prompt for a while to see if it'll freeze there (which I recommend).

re-install of what?

and im almost positive that its not my CPU because the computer freezes at the same time every time, and when i shut off the power and turn it back on it doesnt do it, ever.

im gonna try that thing in safe mode.

...wait how do you do that.. because when i start up my computer the only things it lets me choose to go into are BIOS and express recovery, and then it goes ahead into windows.

your problem seems very similar to mine..... ive tried everything except a windows repair cause i cant remember how.... maybe its some kind of new virus or something?

Fixed mine, i had an 80-wire IDE cable for my harddrive and somehow it got crimped and lost its connection with one wire, try replacing your CD/DVD-ROM and HDD IDE Cables

meh... i still dont see how this can be a hardware problem. because its not like Windows doesnt start, becauase when it does start, i can use any program just fine, and it works, but everything freezes about 3 minutes into working. and the computer stays on, its not like it loses power, because the screen stays on. also, i tried it in safe mode, and it still froze.

no, as i said ( i think i did or im losing my memory ) but i did try it in safe mode, and the same thing happens. also, i tried turning on my computer but leaving it on the 'choose person' screen or whatever its called, where you chose the user, and it still froze.

Well you can check to see if your voltages are stable :)

re-install of what?
The operating system

wait how do you do that.. because when i start up my computer the only things it lets me choose to go into are BIOS and express recovery, and then it goes ahead into windows.
press f8 every few seconds and you'll see the menu :)

Easy:
1. Temperatures going out of whack
2. Voltages going out of whack
3. RAM that's slightly messed up

how does this relate to the thread?...
It's spam.

First of all, would re-installing the operating system make me have to remove all of the data on my hard drives (i have them in raid0), and second, how would i check if my voltages are stable?

1. Yeah reinstalling the OS would mean having to backup data
2. I have a few links to programs to check voltage in QUESTIONS 101. (try something like SpeedFan or MBM5)

:)
