Random reboots , I´m also in USB hell

Hi all

I had my first blue screen today.
Message displayed was : Driver irql not less or equal .

Then further down it says USB port.sys address ba5472bs
base at ba542000 , date stamp 41107d62 .

I´m wondering if it is a USB issue, as about two weeks ago I lost the two front USB ports . I thought I could live with that, I also received balloons in the task bar stating this device can run faster if connected to a 2.0.

I have also been getting random reboots , which I thought was from udating to SP3 ( With the AMD issue) so being paranoid I reverted back to SP2.

I´m running 5000 Black ed. on a gigabyte M56S-S3
Trying to avoid a reinstall if poss.

Any help is appreciated. Ps restore disabled .

What caused you to lose the front USB ports? Also, did you upgrade any component or install/uninstall any software (aside the SP3) recently, maybe right before the ports went down? Right-click My Computer, click Properties, then the Hardware tab, then Device Manager - do you have any yellow icons next to any of the devices?

Hi
The only thing I can remember was a twin shock game pad usb controller.
There were no yellow Icons .
I un-installed the usb drivers. Host controller the lot, now I have three yellow icons.
I reinstalled SP2 as this has the drivers, but no go, I still have the yellow icons. Grrr. I tried right clicking on icon to update driver, microsoft say´s it can´t find them

Have you tried going to your MoBo's site and downloading the drivers from there? Or, simply install the USB drivers from the CD that came with the MoBo.

Edit

I reinstalled the usb host controller second time round.
OK now I have no yellow Icons again. Still no front usb and the back one is occasionaly giving me the (this could function better if using fast connection)
