I'm having a slight problem...that I had before. I don't think I have the Apropos virus again because this time it's on my new PC that I just connected to the internet. That doesn't, however, mean that I don't already have a virus. Anyway, here's a hijackthis logfile.

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Any help would be appreciated.

Everything looks good to me.

Run an antivirus program. A Win32.Bot.something or other did that to me.

Check for PSU voltage irregularities, if you have a voltmeter.

Do you ever get any error messages?

No error messages, just a random restart. It's a brand new box, so I don't see why it would have these problems. 600W PSU, so no lack-of-power issues.

600w doesn't mean anything if the supply is a cheap brand. On a new build you are probably looking more at a need to update the bios if there is hardware problems found. Are you are running any large apps or game when this is seen?

Not particularly...I've had iTunes open both times, but I don't think iTunes could crash a computer. Anyway, I'm not so sure I can update the BIOS simply because I have a Soltek board, and they're not in business anymore.

Often when the lithiuim battery on the board gets weak and starts to go you will start seeing similar problems. One day it simply won't startup. That will effect the non violitile ram. If your temps are climbing when running iTunes since that is a multimedia app that can cause restarts. How old is the board itself?

If a stock heat sink has never been reseated with a fresh layer of thermal compound or the case is loaded with dust and debris that would explain any temp problems. A good cleaning with a can of compressed and a free temp monitor like SpeedFan found at http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php can help with that.

With a company now out of business it's hard but the last bios and board driver updates may be available. A good search would be needed for this. Do you know the model? Some bios updates are available at http://www.ntcompatible.com/story2953.html Another site offers a system monitoring utility found at http://www.dirfile.com/soltek_hardware_monitor_utility_v_1_26i.htm
