random, spontaneous freezing

So, i recently inherited what used to be my parents PC< with intent of using it as my second comp for LAN gaming and stuff. However, there is a problem. Randomly the computer will freeze. it wont give any warning of any kind, it just stops. the mouse just stops, and i have to restart it via the power button. it happens more often while im playing a game, but sometimes it happens out of a game, to. So far its crashed during titan quest (the only game on there atm), firefox, and just idling at the desktop.

So far, i have checked the heat of all parts of the pc (via speedfan), and due to the 2 huge fans, theres no problem at all with heat. I know it isnt psu related, because just recently i got a new 550w power supply, which did nothing for the freezing. Memtest has been running for 15 hours now with no errors. Lastly, im certain its not a virus,

as i just reformatted the disc about 3 days ago. anyways, if you guys can give some insight on what might be going on, itd help me out a lot.
