Random Windows 8 Issues

Hi all

I spent the 40 dollars upgrading to windows 8 and seem to be having some weird issues after I finally got windows stable.

Whenever I try to install my ps3 controller I will get this error that says " :( windows has encountered a problem and must restart " and the computer will just restart... and it really has a :( face on the screen... has anyone else had this problem?

Is it possible that I downloaded a bad iso file or something?

I've checked forums but it seems like no one is getting the same errors. Some people said its a virus (which I really doubt , since I did a clean install and the first thing I installed was avast)

and others say its a hard drive issue, which it could be since my hard drive is on its last leg. Haha I don't want to shell out 150 dollars for a hard drive

im looking at this drive since I installed them at work

but I also have a 3 TB WD green drive I could use...

anyone else seen this ? I will just grab a hard drive if its a hardware problem

My small stay at Windows 8 hasn't been a pleasant one. I have been able to install my FIFA which gets stuck is 37%. Oh yes, the DVD is shining and there are scratches.

It is the "Avast" that is causing the problem, Remove it. I had the same problem setting up my nephew's machine and read it somewhere also on the net about it causing problems. The windows defender that comes with 8 has antivirus in it. Windows Essentials is what Windows Defender is now in 8.

Really? Are you sure? Thats so weird. I also have Avast on this computer which is windows 8 enterprise tho.
