Does your motherboard support SATA drives if so then you need to get a sata cable . The IDE cable will not work with this drive.

The drives are SATA and your old drive is IDE. You should read into the interfaces more before purchasing new stuff...it's just like processors and sockets, or video cards...

There are converters, but I bet you'd loose a good bit of performance.

I have a Pavilian a250n HP computer here is my motherboard i balive:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&cc=ca&dlc=en&docname=c00022505#c00022505_doc

I think it supports them "quote":
2 SATA connectors Supports. 1 Serial ATA-150 disk drive on each connector

And yeah i know about the lower performence but its better then just returning this hd as i might build new one later on and just dont warry about buying new HD. Does anyone have any idea where and which converter i need to buy as i dont wanna buy the wrong one and wait another weak to get it and be the wrong one... thx

your mobo has sata on it so all you need is the connector (sata cable)and a psu sata converter these things are really cheap
