Raptor or CaviarSE16?

Nah, I don't think so. I had a RAID with two 36.7GB Raptors and I honestly think the over-all speed's about the same with my current single 160GB WD drive.

Maybe its just me then but I'd take the money and put it towards capacity (my 2 400gig drives are filling quick) rather than a slight improvement in load time

guys, dont forget to have some form of backup. if drives that large are getting filled with data, im sure it is stuff you want to be recoverable...right???

You know your falling into a false sense of security with the external hard drive right?

An external hard drive has the same faults and issues an internal hard drive has. Ya, the chances of both going at the same time are relatively slim, but you aren't really all that safe by just having things you will miss on a backup hard drive.

If its really important I would burn them on DVD's or something and keep the data somewhere safe. And if your really paranoid then make two copies and keep them in two physically different locations i.e one at home, one at work or safe deposit box or something.

Having a backup is good, but your falling into a trap if you think that a hard drive is the way to go for extremely important data.

Not that dvd's or cd's are perfect, but they have a relatively long shelf life and they are cheap to buy with relatively large storage capacities.

yea i mean basically my external hard drive is just my music and some other stuff... but the odds of it crapping out on me (because i only plug it in to update it...) are slim to none. Plus i'm not going to burn 200 gigs of music and then another 500 gigs of movies tv shows and concerts to dvd lol

IF you have the money you have to get the 150 GB Raptor on Newegg It has really fast vista boots under 30 sec and loads games Really fast.
