im setting up a raid 0 array in the next couple of months, when the money comes along...
and my question is: two 80gb sata2 8mb hard drives in raid 0 or 2 74gb raptors in raid 0?
i dont know if there will be any real performance difference.. since the raptors are still sata1 and the 80gb's are sata2

you would still notice a difference in seek time, boot time, and loading screens, considering that one drive is spinning at 10,000 RPM's and the other would be spinning at 7,200 RPM's

u will get a faster boot time with the raptors and ive herd that when u have 2 there is something u do that makes a real performence boost i havent the idea what it is

hmm... maybe i'll just buy a single 74gb raptor and upgrade to two when vista comes out! :)
its still a lot more even just for one lol

You can only RAID with two new drives. They have to be empty, never used to RAID. Just so you know.
They just have to be the same drive, they dont have to be new.

The raptors would be the best choice.
