Hello:

I've been deployed in Kuwait for the last year and I've been dreaming of putting together a nice computer system when I get home. Since I'm a soldier I don't have a lot of money to spare for this but I finally purchased the last peice on-line a few days ago. Please tell me if I have a system that will allow me to create quality music, play the current 3D games well, and use Active Directory with 50 to 80 clients at a time. I was trying to create something that will give me good service for the next five years. Did I succeede?

Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP Socket-754 Motherboard
Sempron +3400
Creative X-Fi
XFX GeForce 6600GT
2GB Ultra memory

well what is your total budget, and you can let us go from there.
socket 754 is basically dead so i dont suggest getting it

if you already ordered everything, don't worry about it, everything will work out fine, I dunno about 5 years though, bleeding edge today will be outdated in probably three. If you haven't ordered yet, you might want to look into a little better video card if you'll be gaming a lot, I mean it should be able to play every game without issue, but not necessarily on high settings. I'd look in the 6800 series or x800 series if you have a bit more money, the 7800 and x1800 are the newest things out now, but if you're not gaming a lot and have money just laying around, don't spend that much money on them.

Heya soldier :)

Hey,

the system you got (or are thinking of getting) is quite decent. The Sempron is a budget processor with sufficient performance for almost anything you can throw at it. Don't expect some amazing performance though. The graphics card is quite good but speaking from personal experience, does not really allow for max settings in most new games. Nevertheless, it delivers very good performance on medium settings and so on. Otherwise, it should be fine. The only major problem is the 5 years idea. Even the newest PCs will be outdated within some 3 years.

JAN :D

The XFX 6600GT is a real good GFX card. I have it myself, and plays BF2 at high (Hey, your in a battlefield now :D)

Instead of getting the X-fi, i would have rather gotten the x800gto2 or something like that. You could still get the Creative Fatal1ty sound card for $120 and tha one is pretty good i heard.
