What OS are you going to use, also get some Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 ram over that Ultra. Im not sure if that card would be better than a 8800GTX or Ultra for that price doing graphic design, but i would get some other opinions on that.

What motherboard? That one you have listed is for AMD and comes with a AMD 5400+ (won't work with the E6750) The e6750 is better, get a Gigabyte DS3L or DS3R..

What parts would you suggest to replace those ones for around the same price? Also its not just graphics design, its 3d rendering, usign programs like maya.

For the motherboard, a Gigabyte DS3L or DS3R, the 680i's are nice but i don't think you need the SLI feature (running dual video cards) and keep the E6750. Like i said im not sure on the video card but i personaly would get either a 8800GTX or 8800Ultra, get a seconed opinion on that though. Because both 8800 cards have 768mb of vram and are "top of the line". But im not sure whats better on the graphic design, like whats different on that one you listed that could be better? im sure someone else here will have an answer.

What OS are you going to run?

just a quick suggenstion for the O/S..i worked with a friend of mine and he did video editing/photo editing and we decided to upgrade his computer to vista..(this was a week ago) well appearently vista has still alot of compatibility issues with some of the old adobe programs and a few more out there so my suggestion for you is either get new software for that you are sure will work with vista..or stick with windows xp and don't risk anything..personally i would go with the second

EDIT: for video editing wouldn't you also want a capture card?? and life will be much easier for you to get the raptor X hard drives (rendering, start-up, everything =P), whats your budget?

heres the link

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136011

EDIT2: umm..you might wanna get another Mother board just because ur processor and the motherboard arent compat. with each other =P

Edit3: careful with the Geforces..my friend bought a 7900GT and it barely was compatible with his capture card (DVStorm pro) so if i were you id do some wuick research on whats compat. with your software and hardware

EDIT4: you should also check out dual monitors it will make your multitasking life easier ^^

I am going to be running windows XP home edition...I thought that the nvidia quadro line was specially designed to handle 3d design. My budget is 3000$ (with shipping and taxes included) not including the monitor.

I already have the monitor so thats out of the budget

So far what i have listed there minus the monitor = about 2700$ with shiping and taxes included.

ok for safety's sake i would get the quadros because i too heard that they are the best for those things, i can find out for you if youd like, whats is your video editing software your gonna be using?

Thats pretty good. If your budget allows it look into the Q6600, i wish i knew about that video card though. I just couldn't see spending that much on it but it may be built better for graphic design...

How about this one (i cant find the one you listed i can only shop in canada)
-Western Digital / Caviar SE16 / 500GB / 7200 / 16MB / SATA-300 / OEM / Hard Drive
-http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2795126&CatId=8

for video editing wouldn't you also want a capture card??
What is that and what would you suggest? (50$ - 200$)

For the motherboard, a Gigabyte DS3L or DS3R
I couldnt find one of those but i found this one (remember i have to shop from canadain sites)
-GIGABYTE GA-M57SLI-S4 NVIDIA Socket AM2 ATX Motherboard / Audio / PCI Express / SLI Ready / Gigabit LAN / S/PDIF / USB 2.0 & Firewire / Serial ATA / RAID
-http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2896635&CatId=13

also get some Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 ram over that Ultra.
How do these look?
-[ 2X ]OCZ SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 1024MB)

Also what will i need for cooling supplies?

i have no knowledge on video editing on an ATI video card so i really can't say much, that mother board you suggested its not compatible with your processor..when you look for a mother board look for Socket LGA775 on the mother board and if your getting those new processors with higher FSB speeds, you might want to check a FSB speed thats 1333.

a capture card is what you use to capture video from a t.v (for those who wanna flame me about copyright blah blah blah, its a tool video editor use to capture they're recorded VCR videos onto the computer so they will be able to edit it) its come in really handy but i don't know if youd be using that or not.

and your hard drive, look for SATA150 RAPTOR X 10,000 RPM, im pretty sure you can find one somewhere ^^

i would get the x2900xtx with 1gb ram (ati no offense has the best picture results)

According to the reviews that I read, there is no difference in terms of image quality between Nvidia 8 series and ATI HD series

if your getting those new processors with higher FSB speeds, you might want to check a FSB speed thats 1333.
Intel Core2 Duo E6750 Processor - 2.66GHz, 4MB Cache, 1333MHz FSB, Conroe, Dual-Core, OEM, Socket 775, HH80557PJ0674MG, Processor
Is this not what you mean?

with your adobe products are you ging to be using the latest ones?
Eventually

and your hard drive, look for SATA150 RAPTOR X 10,000 RPM, im pretty sure you can find one somewhere
This is the closest i could find
-Seagate / 147GB / 10K / Ultra-320 / SCSI / 80-Pin / OEM / Hard Drive
-http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1418309&CatId=8

when you look for a mother board look for Socket LGA775 on the mother board
How does this one look?
-Asus P5N-E SLI Motherboard - NVIDIA, Socket 775, ATX, Audio, PCI Express, Gigabit LAN, S/PDIF, USB 2.0 & Firewire, Serial ATA, RAID
-http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2853608&CatId=2541

If you get an SLI board get a 680i. (650i in SLI mode will only run at x8, 680i in SLI mode will run at full x16)

-BFG nForce 680i SLI NVIDIA Socket 775 ATX Motherboard / Audio / PCI Express / SLI Ready / Dual Gigabit LAN / S/PDIF / USB 2.0 & Firewire / Serial ATA / RAID

B52-2002-main.jpg

better?

your mother board is perfect it has no compatibility issues except its FSB i was talking about your motherboard, if you read the specs it says 1066/800 on FSB as you know the processor you are getting is 1333 so your not gonna be using it fully, emm your hard drive is a SCSI meaning you either have to buy a controller or get a SATA or IDE interface ^^

can you buy off newegg??

heres is the hard drive i was talking about in tiger direct

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3110676&CatId=2456

its 80 gig but performance is outsanding and im sure a video editor as your self will be running on multiple hard drives if not get this hard drive as your "Master" and put your videos and completed stuff on other higher storage less cheaper hard drives (hope fully that made sense)

heres your mother board that will be good for this rig

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2945261&CatId=2541

can anyone verify if this motherboard is backwards compatible with 1066 and 800 for older processors??
