Rate my upcoming system ;)

I know it's not the best around or anything, and it's a pretty budget gaming system.. but for now all i want it for is games like CS: Source, Doom 3 and UT2k4, so it should do the trick.

Core 2 Duo E4400 (2.0Ghz)
2GB DDR2 667mhz RAM
ASUS SKT-775 P5VD2 1066FSB
500W PSU
160GB SATA HDD 8mb
GeForce 8600GT 256mb GDDR3


What sort of FPS etc. can i expect on games like CS Source and Doom 3? Also will i be able to get it to mid/max settings with no lag or less? Thanks :)
 
i'm sure you'll be in the 130's on CSS but as for doom 3 i've never played that so i wouldn't know. I wouldn't call that a budget gaming rig, ha but then if you look at my signature i call that a gaming rig. LoL

If you can't afford more, then this would do just the trick. But have you considered on getting a ATI card? I don't really know which one, but ATI had built a card that was in the same range as the 8600GT and ATI won from it. I think something with 2600...

I'm not sure what company the 500W PSU is by, when i customized the computer online it didn't give a description of it. But it was over £20 so it should be decent. The operating system will be Windows XP SP2 and it comes with a case. :)
 
You'll want to look into getting a better PSU if at all possible. I paid $100USD for mine, and I don't have a "high end" system. The main thing is getting one from a company that is reputable, ie. not Powmax, Coolmax, Raidmax, Thermaltake, etc.
 
Well if you're building it yourself i'd just get a better PSU from the start but if this is a pc that you're having built for you even if the psu goes bad and takes your system with it it should still be covered by warrenty so until that expires you will probably be ok. No offence to anyone here but they tend to spend a little more money than is actually necessary on their power supplies, but that also comes from being people who spend a lot more money on their computers than me. If you're building one and ordering parts on newegg just look for one with the right amount of watts that has good reviews.

Btw guys i've already ordered everything so it's not a question of shall i get this or do you recommend something better it's simply what do you think of this? Lol
