Rate these CPUs please!

I'm looking into getting a new HP laptop and these are the CPU options they offer. Are they any good? I'd mostly be using the laptop for internet and movies (and also the ocassional game). I would like to get the fastest one possible, but also have it be worth the money. Thoughts??

I actually have the T9500 in my laptop, its 2.53ghz like the 9400 but has double the cache..

Anyhow, the P8400, P8600 are really good.

T9400/T9500 are better though:D

It is obvious isn't it? Honestly the thing that sucks about those build sites is you realize the processor is pretty much what decifers the price.

Right, obviously that one is the best, but I guess my point is that would that processor be overkill for my needs?

What is your budget first off?

and are you dead stuck on HP?...(and no I'm dissing HP, they are a great company)

I'd like to keep the laptop under $1,000. The base model is $579.00, and comes with:

Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (32-bit)
Pentium(R) Dual-Core Mobile Processor T3200 (2.0 GHz)
15.4" diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
4GB DDR2 System Memory
Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

So, I don't think its a bad machine for the price, i'd just like to upgrade the CPU and video card a little.

Well the t9400 will put u way over..

the 5800 is not bad..and certainly better than the 3200!

id up the graphics..

and see about 64-bit o/s so the system can use all 4gb ram.

is there any other option for lcd..

The last 2 are actually 17" screens!!!:)

I assembled a build for 1300.00 before the rebate

intel core2 p8400 (2.26ghz)
4gb ram
250gb hard drive @7200rpm
9600 graphics
17" screen 1680x1050
dvd/cd burner
vista premium 64-bit

so you'll be like $1150.00 for something like that!

I know its a bit over 1000.00 but that is a worthwhile upgrade--
