RDRAM - Rambus - Questions

I am badly needing more RAM for my computer. I'm not exactly sure how much I currently have.

The program CPUZ says that I have two modules of 128MB a piece, and ASTRA32 says I have two modules 64MB a piece.

There are place holders so I know its RAMBUS, but I don't know anything about RAMBUS. Also, the voltage it gives me for my RAM does not show up when I search newegg or many other places. It gives me 2.5v/1.8v.

Any suggestions or information about selecting this type of memeory is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt.

Go into your bios and you can see how much ram you have, and its voltage.
Just remember, Rambus ram has to be installed in pairs of equal amounts.

I would like to see some more options before I buy something. The above link is all that newegg has.

Anyone know of some other site to look on for RDRAM???

Thanks.

My brother has two sticks of some 256MB samsung memory. I'd say samsung is good, and I don't think you'd want to go to a generic brand for a high end or high performance computer that has RD ram in it.

The only thing i like about rambus is its about the speed of ddr. Its way overpriced these days though. To get 128mb for my Dell 8100 it was going to be £119.

Thats ebcause they dont make it anymore, same with SD-RAM, its more expensive then DDR, I made money when upgrading from SDram to DDRram, and i have a dual support mobo(2 sltos for each) and it was awesome.

another reason intel is a marketplace bully - they forced rambus into every machine they could. turned out even they couldnt afford to support rambus, so they dropped the idea after a while. youll find a lot of older dell models (well, the p4 1.4-1.8 ghz ones) are carrying 256 mb of rambus. you might have some luck if you can find somebody getting rid of similar machines, but other than that, the rambus market is way too small, way too expensive, way too obsolete. having said that, good luck :p
