Okay so i took off my Artic freezer 7 pro cooler today, cleaned the cooler base and cpu with this stuff

then i re-applied some new Arctic Cooling MX-2 Thermal Compound and put everything back together.

the only problem is......my temps are still the damn same as before :D

When i first put it on and booted i launched everest and Intel Tat but the quickly gaind temps again.

It idles around 43c and goes into 50c when gaming.

whats up you think?

i realy think the Artic freezer 7 pro just isnt good enough if your an overclocker :(

i put my thermal paste on like this (Not my actual pic) i put half that amount on.

Well the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 isn't exactly a high end cooler. If you want really nice cooling, take a look at the Ultra-120 Extreme and Tuniq Tower.

Everyone and their brother has the best way to apply it, but just humor yourself and try the way in this link.

Also, with AS-5, you need to let it cure for a while. During it's warm-up/cool-down phases, it will bond with your CPU/HSH and enable better transfer. They say 200 hours on the website, but after about 1-1/2 weeks of turning on in the morning and off at night should be good. Don't be afraid to install programs or push the CPU a bit during the break-in period, as someone else on the Forums would have you believe you have to let it sit at idle for no more than four hours at a time - use your system as you normally would; just stay away from a stress test or OC.

Not using AS-5,im using MX-2 which is soppose to be better than AS-5 and doesnt require burn in. so it says on the back.

i also have this cooler lying around, its an Akasa fan,do you think this would do a better job?

I think your AC7 will be better than that Akasa one... Try again with the TP guess...

what should i do...spread the thermal paste this time?

im getting realy annoyed wit this because every attempt ive tried to make this thing run cooler has failed

what did you do danny?

I just put a thin line down the middle, but then again, I didn't really get GREAT temps with the AC7, I mean, they were a lot better than stock, but weren't great.

I think the E6300's just run hot, Mine with the Tuniq Tower idles at 30c and load at like 48c... With the fan on full. See what I mean

What i do is put about a pea sized blob in the middle, get some cling film and wrap it round my finger, use your finger to spread the paste to make an even layer over the entire IHS, havent had any problems with it so far

Maybe that's because that heatsink stinks? I mean it's good for the money, but it's not exactly considered a really good cooler.

thats what i do except i should think about the cling wrap.... thermal compound doesnt taste so good.:P

mmmmm.... a perfect breakfast, bagels topped with thermal paste.

anyway, ive always found spreading it before putting the heatsink on best, i dont trust the heatsink to spread the paste well, idk why

okay what i might do is clean off what iput on,but re-apply it get some cling film and wrap it round my finger, use my finger to spread the paste to make an even layer over the entire IHS and see if that makes any diffrence.

if it doesnt im going to try the Akasa cooler again.

Theres plenty of Mx-2 in the tube so.

Heres my temps now.
