Im considering taking the cooler off my 8800GT and re-applying some AS5 or TX-2.

Is there anything i should know before doing this?
I know the die isn’t protected by a cover like a CPU so i really don’t wonna mess this up.

The cooler must come off because i just can’t clean it efficiently with it on.

i have the Asus glaciator cooler.

thanks

ITs same way you would do a CPU. be sure to clean off the HS and GPU before applying the new paste.

thats all theres to it.

can i use a Citrus based Thermal paste remover?

this one to be exact.

Its good stuff :)

says cpu and heatsink cleaner.

no need for that. all i ever use is a razor and rubbing alcohol.

But sureley this doesnt clean off all the old stuff as good as it would if i used the paste remover

im not sure what to apply,AS5 or TX-2

I get better cpu temps from using TX-2 over AS5 so i might use that.

be sure to not use to much thermal paste, and i would use a old credit card shaped thing to even spread it.

much luck:D
