Re-formatting Q!!

So I have a 120GB SATA which I am currently using as my master. I also have a 40GB IDE which I use as my slave. I recently was given a 40GB IDE that has windows on it. How can I re-format it? Would I put it in as another slave?

If you put it in is as a slave Windows will read it as a logical drive but won't boot off it. All the files will be there as they were in the old PC.

ok well I put it in as a slave and it read it fine but for some reason after it spends time reformatting, it says "format was not completed successfully" or something like that. Also it looks like it has two partitions or something because one says HP_RECOVERY which is about 4GB big and the other just says E:\ which is the rest of the space. How do I make it all into one partition?

you can try to get the CD that came with the hard drive and use that to reformat it, or try to use it as an external drive
