Re-installation...Dell Back-Up Disk

Does anyone know if the purple windows XP disk that comes with most modern dell comps can be used to totally re-install windows after i re-format. Im thinking or formatting but i need to make sure i can re-install windows.
 
generally, the dell cd's for windows will actually say something about dell operating system or dell windows. for reinstalling operating system/windows already installed on your computer

depending on the OS, some of them will just say product recovery cd

one way to be certain, boot to the cd, if it give you the option to install windows, you got the right cd
