hey people,
i just got given a mates computer and when you turn it on before it finishes booting up a message appears on the screen saying "error loading explorer.exe you must reinstall windows"

ive looked over google on how to do this and it keeps saying i need to creat a start up disk on a floppy, but i cant get far enough into windows to do this.. what other options do i have to reformat and reinstall??

thanks for any help

you can download a startup disc maker from here:
http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm
select the right one, i would go for the oem of either w98, or 98se depending on what you are using, the custom one doesn't sound to good to me
just make sure you have the windows 98 cd before you go and do anything drastic, like format the hdd

Do you have a windows 98 Cd, the boot floppy has cd support, fdisk and format, but you need a 98 cd to install or reinstall!
