Re-installing Win7

After re-installing win7, I went into mycomputer C drive and noticed a "window and a window.old folder.
I'm trying to gain more space on my hard drive. Is there a quick way of getting rid of these duplicate files???
Does the new window folder (7.7GB/45,000 files)depend on the window.old folder (21GB/95,000 files) also???
 
You must not have formatted the drive before reinstalling. But yes, you can delete the windows.old folder. Just be sure to copy over any personal data you may need/want.
 
Either that or you performed an upgrade instead of a clean install. I would reinstall Windows again making sure you do a custom install rather then an upgrade, and to make sure you format the drive first.
 
Thanks WOYAGERFAN99...I managed to recover 21gb...with no side effects...my pc is working great..:good: :D
