Hello i have a question on how to go about cleaning my laptop by re-installing windows. my laptop is ultra slow and i´ve been told that by re-installing windows this will help drastically. Is this true? What does re-installing entail, do i have to save every single item in my documents, if so how do i do this? should i buy an external harddrive and save all my movies and music there.
any help is greatly appreciated.

Could we please get some computer specs?

Well first you need to back up all of you files you care about, this could be done on a cd-rw or dvd-rw is your laptop has one.

Then once that is done you need a window install disc or if your laptop come with one a restore disc, and once you have that put it in your CD drive and restart you computer and then it should start giving you instructions. :)

Your documents/mp3s/movies are safe when you reinstall. It's the software you're using that you have to reinstall.

There are other ways to tweak your system other than reinstalling windows, like doing a virus/spyware scan, using CrapCleaner to clean away crap that's slowing down your system.
