Hi,
I got a Goodmans computer I got a new Fujitsu Hard drive (MHT2040AT).
When I put in the windows cd-rom it say my hard drive is not plug in or I need to setup it up...
If I run it without the windows cd-rom it say SCSI is not found or missing
Any Ideal would be helpful.
 
More detail, please...things people would love to know include:
Type of the HD (SATA, PATA/IDE,...SCSI?)
...and thats all i can come up with right now.
 
I got a Goodmans S-Series Pc it is running Windows Xp Home Edition.
I got a new 40.0GB Fujitsu Hard Drive for it but is is saying it cannot find it.

Please find below the information I done?

1: I put in the Goodmans Recovery Cd Version 2.0 it say it cannot find the hard drive.
2: Then I put in the Windows xp cd it is also saying the some.

3: Then if I let it run without putting any cd in the drive it is the information I get,
Searching for Boot Record from SCSI Not found
Boot Failure
Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device
Press any key when ready.

Model MHT2040AT on the Fujitsu on the hard drive.

I would be very greatful if you could help me out with any help on this
 
That drive is regular IDE and not SATA so the system should recognize it. Have you went into the bios to see if the bios recognizes it? If it don't then you have a bad drive, or hardware problem.
 
Since it doesn't boot at all with that new HD plugged in, I'm fairly positive that you've set the jumpers wrong. Or, you're using an old IDE cable. I've had trouble pluggin more than one HD to the same cable when using the old ones. If all the connectors in the cable are black (That's how you recognize the old 40-wire cables), you probably need to get a new 80-wire cable. If the cable is a 80-wire one (All the connectors are differently colored), check the jumpers. For both drives, choose the Cable Select option. Plug the old HD in the connector at the end of the cable (If you've set the jumpers correctly, the drive will automatically be set as master) and the new one in to the middle connector (will be automatically set as slave).

If this doesn't help you out, post your results here, I'll try to figure out something else.
 
So you have one of those little mini tower things (most likely refurbished) with a Fujitsu laptop drive. For one, that drive has been discontinued. If someone sold it to you as "new" I would be taking it back immediately.

Second, it's an old ATA drive. If the "tower" was functioning properly, it would detect it right away. Either a) the BIOS is set with the harddrive disabled or b) the computer is pooched.

Either go into the BIOS and reset it to default and see if it's detected then or just return it. If it's not the BIOS (which I highly doubt) then part or all of the computer is junk. Go somewhere else and buy a better unit. :) For the money you likely spent on it, you're far better off buying an off lease HP D series.
