i have some experience with computers and have been studying to get better with them. i had my IT guy from work helping me with my computer but he is unavailable at this point. I have all the parts i need and would like to put it together this weekend.

i was wondering if there was anyone with experience that has no plans this weekend that might be willing to help me. either hang out on this forum to guide me and answer questions, or maybe even skype? im sure it will take a few hours but im up for doin it tomorrow or sunday.

i am fairly confident i can do it, would just like to avoid any beginner mistakes and im dreading getting it half done and then being stuck.

i have a new CPU, CPU fan/hs, case, MOBO, and retail w7.and ill be taking the RAM and drives out of my stock HP machine, as well as the aftermarket PSU and GPU that i put in when i first got it

any help is much appreciated

i can probably help but it's not hard at all and there's actually a thread stuck at the top of the list on one of the sections with pics and all explaining everything

and just to make sure, did you get the oem version of the window 7 disk, other versions will not work as they do nott contain some of the essintial components of a working os, or are you using the upgrade on the hdd of the hp.

yeah i was looking through all that, what im most concerned about is the order of how i put the hardware together, and then all the drivers and software is usually a nightmare for me

you put the mobo in the case, the psu in the case, the cpu and fan/heatsink in the case, then the hdd,, plug the ram in, then the gpu, connect all the wiring, close the case and plug into the wall, then connect the monitor to the onboard slot not the gpu, put the windows disk in and do all that stuff, once bootedupdate all you drivers and all, restart when prompted, rescan for new drivers o few times and install anti virus and other essentials and your done.

very easy, in theory :). like workin on cars something usually comes up to make things less easy. would you be available to help maybe tomorrow as i do it?

alright cool thx, ill pull up vids and start by putting the Mobo in the case, ill start a new thread tom. around noonish and see if i can get that bad boy together

Just make sure you put the standoffs under the board in the right places. They only go under the grounded holes in the board. Plus some times depending on the case, its easier putting the CD/DVD drive and harddrive in first before the board.
