Really high temps!!!

Hi everyone, just joined the forum and already have my first question.

I have a problem. I just built a system with an 6000+, M2N32-SLI Deluxe, 2 gigs of corsair and a 8800gts. My problem is my core temps on my 6000+ are ready an average of 55c and 60c at IDLE!!! This is bad, i know because theyre supposed to run at about 30c. Whats weird is that i've had no problems, no crashing, my cpu fan does run high usually at about 4000rpm but dips to about 3000rpm sometimes. The first time i booted it was this high so I pulled the sink off too see if it wasnt seated good and it seemed to have the compound spread well enough. So I guess i just need some input. I"m going to order some AS5 and possibly even the thermaltake vx to try to fix this. Thanks in advance for any input and help guys.

edit:page two for temp info

That seems a little crazy for idle, what are you using to check the temps with? Try PC Wizard and look at the "core" temps. Also check bios and see since it would be the most accurate, at idle on my 5600 when i had the stock heatsink my idle was around 35-40*c. But the 6000's stock heatsink has copper heat pipes.

I've looked in the bios, the asus software and "Core Temp" .95. I know its supposed to be right around there at 35-40c. I just cant figure out how it could possibly be this high.

Hm a full load temp don't need to go about 55*c. So bios says the same thing? make sure the heatsink is seated properly, i would look into a Zalman 9500 or 9700. With my 9500 OC'ed i get 28*c idle and 43*c load.

I havent got the AS5 yet, thats going to be my next attempt at fixing this I guess. I was just wondering if anyone else had any ideas of what the problem would be.

only thing i could think of is either the heatsink is seated improperly, bad temp sensors, or something simple like it needs new thermal paste. So i hope the AS5 will fix it. Put a small dot on the cpu then take something like a credit card and evenly apply it across the cpu about as thin as a piece of paper.

I think while i'm ordering something I might just get my moneys worth on shipping and order the zalman 9500. Is the thermal grease that comes with those good enough you think or should I get the AS5? And should I get the AS cleaning stuff too or just use alcohal or something?

Just use alcohol, it works just as good. Im using the thermal paste that come with it and my temps are realy good. But it never hurts to get the AS5 anyway.

Ok, really weird stuff here. I was messin around with different programs to see what my temps were and I got this. Im a little confused, especially with the Everest one, 110C??!!! What i'm assuming is that the aux temp is my core temp average because its the same as the asus programs reading. I ordered the zalman 9500 today along with the AS5 so until I get that I guess i'll just keep messin' around. Any input is appreciated.

AUX is not the core temp...

EVEREST, PC WIZARD, can all be off alot sometimes. I have noticed that usually the BIOS temperatures are most accurate... I'm guessing your CPU is around 57C...

If your bios say the same thing, i would get a new cooler. If that doesn't realy make a different then i would say the board has some bad sensors. On a FULL load it shouldn't go above 50c

Well, on amd the load temp shouldn't go above 55*c. On intel, i think its around 60 or so, right?

Kornowski, you need to OC...bad :P

Kornowski youll be fine to overclock, it wont raise your temps hardly until you add lots of voltage. My over clock only gets like 7 C hotter from stock

Ok guys, back on topic. This isnt about OCing, this is ideas of why my temps could be so rediculus. Newegg says cooler and stuff will be here wednesday so i'll keep ya updated on what happens.
