Hey!

my pc broke after a wire on the cpu cooler was broken so next time i switched the pc on i got a "system fail CPU test" so i got a new cpu but that didnt help, i also realised that the resistors on the mobo were burnt so got new mobo, and it still gives the same error!!!, so i cant boot my pc after new CPU and MoBO! any ideas what else it could be? i suspect the PSU,,,,,,its 500w but only 13a under the 12v......but it cant be that surely- i mean it was workin fine before and i also tried unplugin the dvd/case fans ect to lower strain on psu and it didnt help! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Get another PSU. 13A on the 12v is something you don't wanna mess with, no matter how good you think it is. If you have another PSU to stick in the machine see how it goes and if anything powers up. You could also clear your BIOS (move the jumper from the 2 blocks it's on to the other 2 for about 10 seconds, then back) which should give you an incorrect CPU error (go into BIOS and just go straight to save settings).

already tried clearing cmos, didnt change anything, its a brand new cpu and mobo too. i dont have another PSU, but it looks as if its working, its got lights inside it so it works, and fans fo round and everythin,,,,,but its the only thing i can think of that could be brokin- unless i got a broken p4 CPU back from intel when they sent me the replacement. any ideas of what else it could be?

the wire was on the rocket 3d cpu cooler, it was faulty so when i fitted it, it burnet my cpu and mobo,,,,, i fixed the wire so now the cooler works properly- but i dont have a working pc to cool lol! do you think putting the stock intel cooler on it is worth a shot?, however, i doubt it would change anything becuse the rocket 3d is now working perfect.

u can try it, alot of motherboards wont boot if a wire on the cooler is broke, becuase it thinks that nothings there, so it would overheat quicker. its a safety feature which can get annyoing

ye, but its not becasue of that, i did that once before and it actually boots and tells you that cpu fan is not detected.......my pc now actually wont boot. totaly stuck with it, dont have a clue what to do....think ill take it to a random computer shop tomorro and have them take a look, just to tell me whats wrong- not to fix it- i dont have money for them to fix it lol i can do it myself. dying to get it fixed tho, been broke for over a month and got swat 4 and doom 3 ROE to play!!, cant play them on backup pc's coz they wont run them. has anyone ever heard of a PSU casusing problems similar to this?, really hope its the PSU not CPU coz i needed to buy a new PSU anyway and takes ages to contact intel and get ANOTHER RMA on this CPU.

**UPDATE**

I just put in the old intel heatsink/fan and no success. however, with the gigabyte in i noticed that if i take the 6 pin GPU power plug out, the pc monitor does go on!!!- only to tell me that i need to plug in the power of the GPU ect........but at least the screen goes on!! also, at the same time- the gigabyte cooler seems to be louder than before- meaning its gettin more power. do you think this means its def a PSU problem?, if so- why would it still not work with old intel cooler?
