I have this hard drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136186

And i have a huge movie database in it about 491Gb of movies all purchased

My hard drive was working fine till today i had connected it and my younger sister tripped on it and it dropped on ground from 18cms of height i kept it aside for few minutes and then plugged it in apparently it was working fine the movies were working but It hangs sometime I try to run a movie the computer stops responding some times usually when i am mltitasking
can you tell how can i solve that problem i dont want it to hang again and again and it is also kept near my hometheatre speakers so the speaker magnet effects it so what can i do i really want to keep my video collection i dont want to buy a new hardrive

For a start I wouldn't keep it near my home theatre system unless it is magnetically shielded.

Second backups are everything. Back up all your data regularly because you never know when a HDD will fail or a power supply will take out your whole system or whatever. The price of a removable hard disk now days is easily worth the worth or all your data.

Also AFTER BACKING UP I would test the hard drive with the manufacturers data tools.

PS. Just realised this is a removable disk. Same still applies. Keep a back up of all your stuff on your computer. Don't trust one drive with all your valuable data.

my comp hardrive is 320gigs and hard drive data is 491 gb how do i backup it and ok i wont keep the home theatre system .I tried that too it works sometime bu sometimes it just hangs the computer so what else can i do to prevent the wreckage of my drive and btw thanks
