really saved up for awhile, getting a good dual core, will new psu work?

say's who? I pay'd for it, and im happy with it,.. so far, i do consider it to be worth it. but people must make up their own mind weither they would want to pay for it or not

a 7600GT will play FarCry maxed out easely. (But i dont think it would run Quake 4 maxed out tough )

I am saying that if you already have it, great. However, usually when you want to upgrade to two cards in SLi, the is already a single card that will outperform it. I wouldn't consider SLi/Crossfire until getting to the $200 per card range.

for the 4200 and theyare actually really good. would that be a good choice too?

Any X2 processor is going to be amazing compared to your current one. For all practical purposes, I would suggest you get an X2 3800+. The performance increase to the more expensive models aren't worth it in my opinion.

but i'm really into gaming too. i do agree in one sense tho, right now, when i open wmp, my cpu usage jumps to 78% and starts lagging for a few seconds. my old 2800 was MUCH worse and it often stalled completely when i opened wmp

I would say the lagging is something else other than your processor. Have you defragged recently? A lot of people here got X2 3800+ before the Core 2s came out, and they were 1. great overclockers, and 2. Powerful. Moreso than my D 820, and I have no problems w/my processor.

Basically, I am saying that you will be more than happy with an X2 3800+. A lot of people have gotten them up to 2.4Ghz; Fade2Green got his up to 2.6.

kk thx, despite that i would like a LITTLE more power, so i will go with a 4000 or a 4200. that actually clears my budget a bit too, so i can afford to buy a better psu
