ok so a couple of days ago i was on my computer say....thursday night.....i wake up...turn it on and it took 30 minuets to start up. So i think its a software problem and i format/re-install windows.....ok so then i think maybe its a harddrive problem....so i get a new one and install windows.....WINDOWS took 9 HOURS TO INSTALL!!!.....so i re-check all my ram and it seems fine i even try new ram and in diffrent places....then i took out my the cpu and checked it...no visible burn marks or anthing....I CANT FIGURE IT OUT.....is it possible for a virius to get on my motherboard??? cause thats all i can thin of:eek:

anywho

i fixed it anyways

thanks anyways

think your missing the point jp, he bought a brand new hard drive. Totally clean, nothing on it yet windows took 9 hours to install....thats generally not normal and its hardly going to be a virus on the hard drive initially.

Sounds more like some dodgy piece of hardware was causing the system to struggle, possibly a shot memory chip or something, not sure.

tiny...would you care to tell us what fixed it....just to satisfy my curiosity?

well..first i gave it a nice dust out just incasr...then i re-seeded the CPU and RAM and removed a screw from god(meaning i had know idea it was there or how it came to be beacse it matches NOTHING else in my comp) so that may have created a mobo short....i dunno

ALSO JB i cant "go surfing on the web" beacuse i have ye to even get to the part of where to install my ethernet drivers B)

Ya that is just flat out strange. Maybe a mobo issue just because its obviously not a hard drive issue, and that really is the only thing that could affect it, you have any other computers lying around that have the same socket, I am assuming not since you would have tried it but it must be asked, or a friend possible who does, I mean at least this way you could see if it is a messed up mobo, could be anything I mean you never know with how it is acting.
