hey i just bought a amd phenom II x4 black edition and a gigabite 890xa-ud3 motherboard and 4gb 1333 memory and my question is when i right click my computer and go to properties my computer shows 785 mhz, 3.25 gb of ram

so i would like to know why is my processor running so slow if its suppose to be running at 3.4

Most likely you have cool and quiet technology running. What it does it downclocks the cpu when not needed, which saves on heat and life of processor. Do something intensive like scan your system with malwarebytes and then check the speed and it should be correct then. You can disable the cool n quiet in the bios so it stays the max speed all the time.

hey can you tell me step by step how to do that please and thank you

which one? disabling the cool n quiet technology or doing something cpu intensive to check correct speed?

i was asking about the disabling but i figure it out and i checked and shows 3.42 GHz

thanks man

now i have to figure how to overclock without crashing my system lol

What motherboard did you stick that in?

if it's a black edition then its super simple, just change your multiplier, if its not a total low-end board everything should run nicely

YOU MUST TURN OFF COOL & QUIET BEFORE OVERCLOCKING

It is a setting in your bios

Why did you put 4GB of RAM in a 32 bit system?

Like they said, it's perfectly normal for it to downclock like that due to Cool N' Quiet. It helps with the power bill, so I usually keep it on unless I'm overclocking for a benchmark or something. :)

I have my CPU overclocked with cool'n'quiet enabled. i haven't had a problem yet. It was only a problem when overclocking on the older generation of AMD cpu's (the first phenoms and athlons iirc)

And it does help with the power bill because of the voltage and clockspeed my 635 uses, at full load it will pull 150 watts on its own.
