Really stupid question

Ok, so i just bought an external hardrive, and i plugged it into my laptop, and i know its working because when i go to device manager it is there, but my question is where do i find it actually.

I thought i could just go to My Computer then it would be there, just like most other usb storage devices.....

It should be in my computer. Did it come with any drivers? It should work without drivers on XP but ya never know. Mine comes up in My Computer.

Right Click my computer and click Manage. Go to disk management and see if you can assign a letter to the drive.

Thanks, i forgot to format the hardrive, god ntfs takes forever.

I Always found it weird that windows doesn't pull up a configure box when you plug in a new HD.. Isn't Microsoft supposed to be all about user friendliness???

I wonder if VISTA is any better in regards to this issues..
