Rebooting Windows

I have two Dell computers...the Dimension 4600 that I bought, and the Dimension 4400 that my G-ma gave me...the second one kept going all BSoD on me, so I decided to reboot Windows XP on it with the backup disc I got from the first computer...not working though...I assumed since it was a Dell issued backup, it would work...am I wrong?

most manufacturers boot cds are paired with a certain type of computer, not just ones manufactured by dell, because of different drivers and whatnot on the cd
