i know a decent amount about computers. i just put in a new 250g hard drive and did some other small stuff to it internally. The motherboard and pcu are a bit old and i want to get new ones. my pcu usage is always jumping between 50-100%. I dont really know much at all about motherboards or PCU's. I dont do much gaming at all so i dont need an insane video card, but what i mainly do is store all my media (tons of recorded video, songs, full videos). I also use a lot of media and photo editing software. I dont know if any of these things affect what i may need? I just dont know what is a fast speed for the processors and other info. If anyone can give me some insight on this id appreciate it.

no, all i want is some help on what to look for with motherboards and PCU's, like ive never researched anything about them. my budget is moderate, like 300 tops

PCU's, I believe you CPU (central processing unit). The cpu has to match the socket type on your motherboard. First make your choice between an AMD or Intel cpu, than find out the socket you need, and pick a board. Another good option is a bundled kit, or bare bones, and you can often buy a cpu and board together.
