recaseing problem?

hi im been recaseing my dads pc in to a custom case everythink connected its a pentium d was booting up fine den started to boot then conks out? likee it shorts? i think i might have put the wrong power led hard drive light etc switches in wrong connectors would this cause this?took heat sink of den den back on .den went all funny boots den stops and the power gos ive checked that the heat sink is placed proply and it is the motherboard is a factory motherboard fujitsu siemans that have not got the plugs etc highlighed with what they are i new all of them eccept the power leds etc cos there coulour coded but dont match the new case??? what could cause the power conking? p.s its not the power supply!
 
When you changed the case out, did you put the standoffs under the board in the right places? One not shorting out on the bottom of the board?

thanks for reply nar i had a problem there couldnt fit all standoff to board as i needed the metal plate of the original case witch case screws are diffrent needed this plate to fit the heat sink so had to sacrifice the motherboard screws but heatsink strews holding it in place ok but board is a little of balance!!! not by to much but is slightly raised on one side could that be the problem?p.s the new case had diffrent screw holes for standoff so had to do a little sacrifice and work with what i had

The motherboard needs a standoff under the holes that have a grounding strip around them

hi yes but couldnt use these as had to use old plate of original case to fit heatsink or couldnt of fit it so had to sacrifice the main motherboard standoffs! :(
