Recomendations on CPU/MB

I am going to do another build here shortly. I already have everything including a CPU and MB. But I have decided not to use the CPU and MB I purchased (As soon as I hit 100 posts, Ill post them up here for sale at a good price).

What I am doing with this build is really nothing more than some light Video and Photo editing, building databases, Website Development and that sort of thing.

However, I would still like to have at least a decent AMD AM3 or 3+ Quad Core.
And as feature rich of a MB as I can get for what I am going to spend.

I have checked all of the bundles, usually the CPU is fine but the MB's are junk.

So, for CPU and MB, budget, $140.

Recommendations?

If you are doing video encoding you want as many cores that you can afford and the highest IPC CPU. That means a 1156 or 2011 socket 6 core intel imo.

But since you have a 140 budget, no chance for that.

are you looking to replace your 960t and msi 970 mobo in your sig? nothing will beat those for the money, and if you unlock the 960t's 2 extra cores and get a hyper 212+ cooler then overclock it to 4GHz nothing under a i5 will touch it

all for 140?

No, as I mentioned in the OP. This isnt going to be a high end rig. Any video Ill be doing on this one will simply be to convert for youtube and the like, maybe some stitching etc.

As mentioned, I already have everything else. Even a brand new AMD 3+ Triple Core and an cheapo ASRock MB.

Just would like to get maybe a little better processor. Im not too fond of the MB either.

And I dont want to dump a ton of money into it, for what it will be.

Thanks
J

If you don't have the $ now, better to sell what you have first. Because even if you went AMD 965, which can be had for $90 atm, still leaves only enough for yet another cheap mb. You may already own an x4 with the x3.

Since we dont know what motherboard and X3 you have now, kinda makes it hard trying to figure what would fit in a 140 buck range. A lowend X3/4 and a cheap board is all that will fit in a 140 range.
