I just lost my second WD hard drive in as little as one year . My question is there a better brand than WD or is it just luck of the draw? I'm going to send it back to WD which will take at least a month and in the mean time I need to buy another drive. I need it to be 500gb because I am splitting the drive for two OS's. Thanks
 
Is just luck, like samsung some people say they have die in less than 1 year while others like me have had the same hdd for 3 years without dying
 
You'll hear stories from every brand. Someone will have an experience like yours and lose a couple in a short period and others are like me, so far I have not had a drive fail. I've got seagates and they have been working great. I thought one was going out a while back but it turned around and is still going strong.
 
Thanks guys that's pretty much what I was assuming. I guess I'll buy another WD and if they replace the other one I'll have a spare.

2 day air shipping for $3.99? I thought it was Ground shipping for that price? Besides, theres a warehouse in TN so it should be there the next day anyways.
 
I ordered it from Zipzoomfly, not Newegg. If I had ordered from Newegg I would have to pay taxes and shipping . Newegg's price with 2dayshipping ( 153.89) Zipzoomfly ( 128.88 ) . Taxes here in Tennessee suck 9.75% .
