Hi everyone,

Firstly, I would like to apologize if I am posting this under the wrong subreddit (I am a noob as you can see). If you have suggestions of where I should post it, I welcome your input. I am putting together a new build and had a couple of questions regarding my component selection. I live in the United States and I am aiming for about 1000-1200 US dollars. I game lightly (SC2, CS, LoL, etc...) and I am learning CUDA programming. I am implementing quantum chemistry onto gpus and work from home quite a bit. For this reason, I was looking into SLI EVGA GeForce GTX 960 FTW GAMING ACX 2.0+ (4GB).

Here is a link to my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HnCYyc

A few things about the build. - I have a Corsair HX750w PSU and Zalman 9500 cpu fan. - I do not overclock, therefore the i5 6600K and Z170 boards are really not of interest to me. Hence, why I stuck with MSI H170A pro gaming board. I am open to your input on this issue (pcpartpicker didn't have the MSI H170 board to choose, so I put the Z170). Here is the board I am looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130884 - I have heard a lot of debate about x99 vs Z/H 170 boards, does the 100 series intel chipset seem appropriate?

If you have any suggestions of where I could cut cost, or components that you feel would be better substitute I would love to hear what you have to say. I actually have not built a system since the old p55 chipset in 2009, so everyone's help would be appreciated.

Get a cheaper case like an NZXT H440 or Phantom or a cheaper Corsair one and then you might be able to afford a single 980 Ti instead of two 960s or maybe you could get an i7 6700 instead of the i5.

Personally I'd look at a Gigabyte motherboard: Z170 Gaming3 or Gaming5 maybe.
