Recommending DVD player software

VLC is my go-to player of choice, I love it's features such as choosing a manual aspect ratio for videos that play incorrectly, ability to adjust the audio sync if it's slightly out of sync, toggle subtitles quickly, change audio source, etc. Media Player Classic is to stripped down and basic looking for me.

I just use VLC when the format can't be played in WMP. Been using VLC since, god maybe 2005?

I guess I could use the Klite codec pack, but I would rather not install that crap on my computer.

Not sure what Kite codec is all about. Is it stand alone?

But every once in a while VLC won't play a dvd - my only complaint about it. Like right now. Then WMP plays it as my backup.

Maybe future VLC updates will take care of?

I personally use Klite so I don't ever have to worry about finding a codec for anything. If it doesn't play even with Klite installed, then there is something wrong with the file.
