Record cassette tapes to digital?

I have a few old cassette tapes I like that I haven't been able to find in digital form. Is there an easy way to convert them without much quality loss?

I was thinking of getting a double sided headphone cord (with a jack at both ends), plugging it into my cassette player, then plugging the other end into the mic input. From there could I record?
 
if you can play it that way you can record it.
google total recorder or and xripper
there are others. ive used both of these.
 
Use SoundForge for recording sound from Tapes. You can edit the enhance the quality to next level. I have done so many records and surprise myself with the quality. :D
