Record Sound on computer

Hey, how can i record audio on my computer?
Like lets say i want to capture audio of something that is playing on my computer (at full quality), what program could i use to do this? (something that is free... i don't have a credit/debit card.)

i used audacity to record something for SNR analysis

its pretty reliable, u just hit record and it goes lol
