recording a xbox 360

so i got the capture card already, what am i doing from here? the xbox plugs into the capture card and my tv? will it output both the HDMI and RCA jacks? or do i need to play on my monitor? what program should i use to record it? thanks in advance

Best thing to do is just to play with it and see what you like best. My preference, since most capture cards have a bit of lag, is to record the output from the TV... Plug the XBox into the TV however you prefer(HDMI perhaps?) then go RCA or SVHS out from the TV to the capture card.

i dont mind a bit of lag, i really want the great quality and ability to become a wmv file, for sony vegas i just bought

My friend uses one of those video splitters to record his Xbox. He just split the output into two streams with one going to the TV tuner and another to the Monitor.

will the video show up in vegas? or do i have to configure something like fraps and then load the vid into vegas?
