recording media alternative to data cd

This question relates to playing music in the car. Currently I record mp3 music in windows media player on to a normal cd as a data cd. This works great and I can add music to the cd at my leisure. Unfortunately my cd player is now buggered, so I am gonna stick my old cd player back in, but this cd player does not play mp3's. So is there an alternative to a data cd which will aloow me to burn music in cd format but add music to the cd as and when I wish?

try playing .wav music files on your old cd player hopefully this will work. The music will sound better anyway as you will get more quality (kbps) out of them. Only problem is you won't fit as many songs in .wav format as you would .mp3 songs on a single disc.
