Recover a overritten file?

Basicly, i download a document, changed a lot of stuff on it, saved it(in the tempaory files by mistake, jsut saved of it in tempry internte files for IE) then i coulnd't find i tin my documents because of this, so i downloaded it again to make sure i had the file name right, and thus overrighting the document i changed. I have about 8 or so hours of work into this.

Is there anyway i can recover it?

I don't know if this will work but if you are using Windows Xp, try using System Restore.

Try doing a Row-Recovery
It's gonna take a lot of time but it works
I recovered over 20 GB using a program called GetDataBack
for the best results do a row recovery.

Recovery tools only work on deleted file where the header is deleted but the actual data is still there. But once a file is overwritten, it's usually gone. I doubt any software undeleter or recoverer will be able to get anything back, and I doubt even physical recovery would yield anything.

Deleted files are easy to get back but overwritten files are typically a different story.
