Recoving data from hd

I have a HD that I had hooked up with an ATA card, it has all my music and resume on it. It worked fine one day and then it just started staying that it was not formatted and asks if I want to format it now. Is there anyway that I could recover the data that's on it? I have 2 other HDs hooked up to the motherboard.

Is this the hard drive with the OS on it?

I am guessing that it isn't...

If you have another computer then try connecting the HDD to that and then see if it works.

If that dosn't work then I think it would be impossible to retrieve the data off of the HDD.

i think you should do a disk check first, if possible. i have a thumbdrive which sometimes also act up like that. after a disk check, it works just fine.
