Recycle Bin issues

So Yesterday I discovered my recycle bin was nowhere to be seen on my desktop.. Doing the personalize - change desktop icons method says its still there, and when I disable/enable it appears for a second then goes again....

I have no clue whats happened!

A Shortcut works but then the empty - full image change doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Step 1: Download Restore Recycle Bin Registry file.

Step 2: Right-click on the file and then select Open.
Step 3: Click Yes for the prompt.
Step 4: Now click Ok. Reboot your machine to see Recycle Bin on your Desktop. Note that this will also enable Recycle Bin option in Desktop icon settings box.

Thanks for the advice but I followed it word for word and still nothing..

Try doing a system restore to a day when the recycle bin was on the desktop.

Okay thanks, how would I do that, though?

And would it delete files/programs ive owned since?

In your start menu

Programs/accessories/system tools/system restore

No it won't erase your personal files but it may delete installed programs since that date.
