Redesigned New Build

1. The case isn't great. For the price, you would be better off with:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119213

or, if you want extreme quality:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139001

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112159

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112244

My recommendation without hesitation would be the first. As an owner of one (700D, same case but without side panel or hot-swap hard drives), I can say it is flawless in every single way

2. You picked a video card which has a water block on, but then no CPU or chipset water cooling parts, or any other water cooling parts. You are better off getting a normal GTX 580:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130587

and buying a waterblock only if you decide to do full water cooling. It will save you money, but you are getting the exact same card.

3. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135224 is plenty, you will see no difference ;)

4. 100W is overkill, unless you are going to be putting another GTX580 in there later. If not:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139015

will be enough. If you are, that will still be enough, but to give you headroom:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139014

5. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157229 just as good, but cheaper

6. For the price of the memory, double the capacity:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231312

7. Ultimate is a gimmick. You will get the same functionality from home premium, with a smaller price tag:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116716

8. If you must get extra fans, which you don't actually need to be honest:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185091

would be beter options

9. Drop the H70, go full water cooling. If you aren't, then still drop the H70, and go for:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018

or

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835109030

instead. Both will give the same cooling performance, but again, at a much lower cost.

10. I would swap the SSD for:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167042

and I would also make sure you get a storage drive, or better yet 2 in RAID1. 2TB Samsung F4 would be my recommendations

11. Under no circumstances would I ever pay for anti-virus software, not when you can get the same or better protection for free:

http://www.avast.com/en-gb/free-antivirus-download

I have changed to dual 570's, also i took your advice on the SSD, kept my power and i think i will grab that case u first put, but does it need any more fans? or does it standard provide enough?
also i will spend the extra 20 dollers for the H70

If you mean the Coolermaster, no it shouldn't, it has ample air flow. If you mean the first of the higher quality ones, mine has absolutely 0 cooling issues, that is with my CPU and graphics card overclocked, and all I can hear is a low hum at worst, which is my graphics card fan, not any of the case fans. If I were to turn the fan speed down I can't hear anything, but to be honest, even if I use speakers rather than a headset, even with sound on low the noise is drowned out, so it doesn't actually affect a thing.

If you look at the reviews, it clearly shows that the venomous X and the Noctua I put are better coolers, even though they are cheaper. These "all-in-one" water cooling loops are just gimmicks. As you can see from your very own source, the vast majority of decent air coolers match (as in get within 2 degrees) or beat it.

And you didn't mention them, but have you come to a decision on the OS, DVD drive and the AV?

Why 16GB of Memory I have never seen you advicing that much. :D:D
8GB would be ample, and since his budget is high he can get a good latency 8GB but not the one he linked to which is overkill.
I don't know but he is pretty bent on spending a lot of money.I gave
The CM HAF 932 is amazing I can vouch for that and aasti can vouch for the Corsair Obsidan.

And I told him that 1000W is overkill but still he was bent on it so I linked him to a few good 1000W PSUs ,earlier he was going for a rosewill 1000W.

Also is the Corsair AX series rebranded seasonic or is it channelwell or Delta??

Because he is spending so much, and for the price it will be better than 8GB of memory will be, even when the 8GB has lower latency.

Think back a few years when 2GB was the standard and any more than 2 was overkill. I managed to get a killer deal on 8GB PC6400 memory, which was as quick as my now 4GB PC12800. Double the clocks, granted, lower frequency, but still better performance per DIMM, yet the same speed as the extra capacity.

I would always, always go for capacity over speed, obviously with exception, I wouldn't recommend 16GB 1066MHz over 8GB 1333MHz, because imo, 1066MHz DDR3 memory is a waste of time and space, except for in a system built for your average user who only uses the internet and watches a few videos.

Yeah I remember the times when 1GB was overkill and 256MB was the old 4GB.

No I meant 8GB kit for a $100-120 would be ample.
And the GPU I think he should go for a GTX 580 if he wants to max out games on FULL HD and I mean everything Like AA and AF etc and with a playable fps.
And not all the 6950s can be shader unlocked and even sometimes you are able to unlock them there are some reports of rendering errors.
So better to go with a card which on Stock is amazing.

@OP the card you selected is for liquid cooling.

@Declan
The Corsair AX series is rebranded are from -- ???

I've already pointed out the liquid cooling, and he already pointed out he is to swap to dual 570's.

As to who makes the AX series, the AX-750 and AX-850 is a SeaSonic unit, the AX-1000 and AX-1200 are both made by Corsair themselves

I already explained him why he shouldnt go for a multi-GPU config but he is pretty bent on going with sli or crossfire configs only.

@OP
The single GTX 580 will be more than enough. The GTX 570 sli is overkill. And I have already told you the cons of Multiple GPU configs.

why is running dual SLI 570's bad? hell its about the same price as a good 580, i think you even linked me a test showing how the 570's were up there, ill retake a look at those coolers though, and since i do want to run 2 video cards i will need at least 1000 volts, and it is relatively the same price as a 750 anyways

because your as rock doesnt offer duel PCI 2.0 slots at x16 x16 speed for both, it reduces them down to lower

Yet it still doesn't use the full bandwidth of x8, so there is no performance decrease, and we still aren't close to reaching the bandwidth limit of x8, so you aren't losing anything

Greater power consumption, greater heat and in some games you will get micro stutter, which in some cases could make some game unplayable. I never had problems running SLI, however I wouldn't do it again unless I got a hell of a lot of money. 1 decent card (looks at 580) is enough for any game out now, so why spend extra?

You have a sports car, I have a family car. We are both driving on the same roads, going at the same speed limit, so you spent money on something you can't use, whilst I spent less, but am going from A to B just as quickly as you are :)
