ok i find this is happening more and more often on my computer, when i go to search for something on google and click the link it gets totally redirected from the original url that it is supposed to go and i can't even use the back button to get out of the web page all it does is refresh the page

for example i was searching for information on sparta because i have a project on it, the link was redirected to this

http://www.toseeka.com/search.php?q=Spartan_Soldier&source=look_r+040+001_keyword_Spartan_Soldier

but if i copy and paste the url google gives it gives the page that was orignally supposed to come up, what is with this? it is extrememly annoying, is this a new form of advertising or soemthing?

Which browser are you using? IE? If so, might be time for a switch to something more secure like FF or Opera; or even the latest IE7.

If you are already on it, it might be spyware and adware. Browser hijackers that spam you with redirected links such as those. Have you run any antispyware programs lately?

Come on computerhakk. You should know better than that. What you said is untrue and borderline fanboyish even. All three browsers are now vulnerable to today's threats because the little twerps are no longer using ActiveX to construct their little toys. I have one particular website in mind that proves this. I spend a lot of time there testing security measures.

Did you even understand anything I said. This post is to merely help the individual with the problem, not to say that one is better than the other. It's to show that there are alternatives or udpates if he is using IE. FF, Opera, IE7, and many others;

Let me define somethiing for you:
wikipedia said:
Fanboy or fanboi is a term used to describe an individual (usually male, though the feminine version fangirl may be used for females) who is utterly devoted to a single fannish subject, or to a single point of view within that subject, often to the point where it is considered an obsession. Fanboys remain loyal to their particular obsession, disregarding any factors that differ from their point of view. They are also typically hateful to the opposing brand or competition of their obsession regardless of its merits or achievements.

You my friend, are a fanboy to your own ego.

I understand what you said, bud, and I really don't care what Wikipedia says, no offence...

But switching browsers has nothing to do with that problem. That was my point. The problem is these jerks that are coding malicious javascripts into webpages so that any browser you happen to use is vulnerable. It makes me mad just thinking about it. :mad: I'd love to get my hands on one, tie them down, and flog the daylights out of them. Just because.

Well, this is a forum and a community. If your point was something else, there's no reason for you to state it. No one is always right and I hope in time you can learn to accept that. Your problem with these so-call "jerks" are none of my concerns and taking the discussion to something totally off topic to the original thread itself is pointless. If you really are that frustrated, learn how to control yourself and write a letter to good-o FF, Opera or MS.

No, it's on topic. I was merely suggesting that your recommended course of action was a change that isn't going to help him. That's all. I'm not mad at you or anything, and you shouldn't take it personally.

The solution for him is to install excellent security measures so that he's protected no matter what he uses. Avast!, Prevx1 and Spybot will lock his machine down so that no matter what his browser of choice is, he will be actively protecting himself against these little numbskulls that need to find a girlfriend.

lol :D
