Redundency Build lol

Hi All. Im getting made redundent at work which gives me an epic payout.

So im either gonna do a epic build or get a new Motorbike.

I was looking around www.pricespy.co.nz which is a NZ site that lists the cheapest NZ price for parts and came up with this.

i7 920 - $600 ish
DFI Lanparty UTx58 - $900 ish
1TB HHD x 2 - $420
BlueRay Writer Combo Drive - $350

Now I have two questions.

1. The DFI UTx58 supports 24gb ddr3 ram over 6 dimms, but I cant find 4gb sticks anywhere????

2. The DFI UTx58 says it can support 3way SLI or quad CrossfireX, now which card would be better, getting 3x GTX295 or 4x 4870X2, Also do these all run at x16? If not is there another board out there that supports quad sli at full x16?

Oh and what sort of PSU am I looking at, and reckonmended case and CPU Cooler?

Hahaha otherwise I might get a GSXR1000 who knows.
 
1-not much can even utilize 24gb's of ram
2-3 way sli or crossfire is over single gpu cards, so you could run two 295's, or two 4870x2's, or 3 4870's, or 3 gtx 285's
3-case is personal choice, but as for a power supply, i would say a pc power and cooling 1200 watt
 
Personally i would just upgrade your motherboard/cpu you have in your system now to a nice Quad core Intel...not an i7.

Then it will be able to handle anything you throw at it,the i7 systems are sweet yes but not realy needed just yet or for some time to come yet i think.

In the same situation as you,might be made redundant but unlike you i wont get a thing as ive not been employed there long enough too.

I would consider yourself lucky with that payout and put it in the bank for yourself to fall back on when times get hard.

Theres not too many jobs out there right now :(
 
Lol Ive got another job lined up, and im going on garden leave for a month (paid but not working) and my payout is well in excess of 15k. So yeah.

But your upgrade idea is something else Im thinking about (as you can see from my graphics card post in the Video Card section) but Im thinking about a Phonem II AM3 upgrade as they are the best price/performance at the moment.

But yeah, any answers to the above, it seems pointless to make a MOBO that can support 24gbs if you cant buy 4gb sticks?

Im gutted to hear that I cant have 3 x duel core graphic cards lol that sucks.
