Hello all! I was getting ready to reformat my desktop when I come across a question I was hoping someone could help me with. My computer has an aftermarket iomega external cd-rom. No internal drives besides the hard. How will i reload windows on this machine once it is reformated? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Ken

Can the external CDROM be set to 1st boot from your BIOS?

If so, all you do is stick the Windows CD in and it will boot from that.

You can also format the drive from the Windows CD - assuming it's not just a backup copy, in which case I'm not sure.

I should be able to boot from that drive, but what is going to happen after I do the actual reformating of the drive....Will it not delete the driver for the external cd-rom therefore causing it to quit working?

Try and boot the computer off the windows cd before you format the HD. What version of windows is it and do you have a floppy Drive??
