So i have reformated my friends computers but never mine, the only thing that is different is that they have the install disk. When i made this computer, my friend installed windows, abd he used Windows Professional CD. The thing is, he never gave me the CD, i think because he buys so many keys so he just has to use a couple cds. My question is where do i get the CD key, because yes...it it not on the side of the machine. I know that the reformat info is in the Install folder, and that i need to make a bootable disk and write that info onto the disk. If im wrong, lol PLEASE correct me. But my main problem is the CD key.

Thanks you for the help!!

IF your current version is a legal version you can get your current cd-key prior to a reformat of the current OS. You will need to use the same Cd which he let you use prior. There are many different versions, and only that Key will work with that Cd.

The program to view your Cd-key is here.

if you have already formated and tried to install windows you will have to buy a key from microsoft or a new windows cd

Or ask your friend for the Legal version and key he gave you before.

He has most likely installed it on others and knows the key #. Which by the way is not legal. I doubt he buys the os in group lots. And without the cd..Good luck, unless you managed to get a same ver copy.

no hes a legit person, he runs his own computer networking/repair place down in Huntingtion Beach (LA). So he does everything by the book.
